Signage design presents an interesting dimension to branding, literally. Translating a 2-D logo into a 3-D object takes much consideration. Issues of scale and structure come into play as well as understanding how the brand elements will translate in relation to their environment. There are technical concerns as well, working with neon. The three projects shown here were made successful through close consultation with expert sign builders. In order for the project to be successful the process must be quite fluid so that form does not trump function and function does not ignore brand integrity. For a designer working in print the scale of outdoor signage can be daunting, and very exciting.
